The thing that interests me is her sculptural language composed of basic elements having Vietnamese forms. I think that the variations from those elements with the inspiration always abundant and subtle, the depth of her soul, will permit her to create diverse and profuse works which bear both national and occidental features. I was not surprised when I knew her success. Many of her statues have been erected in France, in the park, schools and hospitals etc…
I am deeply moved by this thought: the years and the months when Vietnam was submerged in bombs and bullets with the threat to take it back to the stone age. These years and months have induced the maturity and discovered many talented people in the Vietnamese communities resettling abroad, including DIEM PHUNG THI.
